Wood: Growth, Connection, Renewal.
Spirit is inviting you this month to consider how you like to grow.
If you imagine yourself as a tree, there’s a few important things you need in order to flourish.
You need the right soil – that’s where you live.
You need to have an environment that is suited specifically to who you are and what makes you feel good.
For some people that’s the city, in amongst the hustle and bustle.
For others it’s a cottage tucked away in the bush.
And sometimes you might fantasise about one or the other, but the truth is, one of them will always feel more like home.
You know when you go on holidays to a place that you completely adore, but when you get back you think, “Boy am I glad to be home!”
That’s knowing that you’ve planted yourself in the right soil.
But if you come back to your place and you feel a sinking feeling, or a sense that the space doesn’t light you up, you’ve got some things to consider.
Can you fertilise and nourish your “house soil”, by cleaning, clearing and reinvigorating the space?
Or is it time for you to leave and find a new place to plant your roots?
And the sun.
Every tree needs access to the sun.
Some trees like to have dappled light – which might mean that you enjoy a bit of social activity, but if you get too much of it you’ll burn out.
Others will wither in the shade, and require lots of active energy, connection and socialisation to feel their best self.
Which one are you?
Do you prefer full sun, partial sun or shade?
And water.
Water being the life-giver of all things.
In this case, water is your emotional self and the way you process things in your life.
You might be somebody who needs a lot of water – you need to talk things out, to cry, to express – to really let the world know how you feel.
Or maybe you’re more of a “let it dry out completely before you give it a good soak” type of being, who likes to have your roots in well drained soil, and doesn’t need all the mushy talk about feelings and life.
The thing is, just as with trees, there is no ideal way.
The way that is best is the one that is best for you.
Often life gets so busy that you don’t consider how you’re nurturing yourself – or in fact, how you even like to be nurtured.
The invitation this month is to explore what helps you to grow, how much connection you need, and which way of emotionally expressing is right for you.
From there you can go about actively ensuring that your own needs are met.
You can find like minded trees who want to exist in the world like you, and together you can flourish and grow.
Trees are ace, and so are you.
