Sometimes we think of play and joy as frivolous things, as luxuries afforded to only those who don’t have more important things to do. 

You have been conditioned to think this way.

Who taught you that laughter and fun were frivolous things?

Play creates connection.
Connection creates understanding.
Understanding creates empathy and compassion. 

The more free we are to experience joy and connection, the better we are at having compassion for the lives of others. 

Your play does not ignore the suffering of others. 
Your play does not imply that you don’t care about the world.
Your play is not a waste of time or insult to those who cannot do the same. 

Treat your play as an act of sacred service. 

Enjoy each and every moment that presents itself to you this month, seeking to find the beauty and delight that it brings your way. 

Giggle with a friend whenever the opportunity arises. 

Spend that moment longer staring at bugs with your little ones. 

Invite your elderly loved ones to dance. 

However play chooses to arrive in your life, honour it as an important contribution that you can give to this world.
