Four of Swords
When you first look upon this image you might be thinking, “Please, no. This doesn’t look like a good thing.”
Fear not. This month’s message is one of rest and respite.
The Four of Swords provides a great opportunity to look at how you can break down the messages and symbols that Spirit is trying to give you.
Because Spirit is ALWAYS trying to speak with you.
Often you are so busy just getting through life that the signs and messages can be easy to miss.
This card is encouraging you to take time to rest, and this is how you can decode it in the imagery:
In the image you see a figure in a suit of armour laying with Autumn leaves under their head and four swords floating above them.
We see them resting from battle while still in armour, which reminds you that while the chaos may not be over yet, you are safe to take some time to rest.
Indeed, rest is so important when the battle is a long one.
The Autumn leaves emphasise this by indicating that it is not yet Winter, so you are not yet at completion, but it also recognises that you have already come a long way.
The Four of Swords encourages you to take a pause, just as the swords hover in the sky.
The swords are in the sky because the element of Air is our realm of thoughts and ideas.
To interpret this for your life it could mean making more of an effort to pause and meditate, or to place a greater emphasis on choosing positive thoughts and words over negative, worrisome ones.
Alternatively, rest for you might look like taking a break from all the thinking.
Do you feel like you’ve been overthinking things a lot lately?
Perhaps now is a great time to place greater emphasis on your physical body; to listen to it’s guidance and become a little less focused on the instructions from your mind.
Why not make a playlist of your favourite songs, turn the music up really loud and create a mini festival in your own home.
So much healing happens when you release yourself to the dance and truly let your mind go.
As always, you will have a gut instinct about what this message means for you, and I encourage you to honour that.
The other message this card brings is one of surrender.
Have you felt wound up by your thoughts, trapped by all the conclusions or non conclusions you are coming to?
Sometimes the best approach in uncertain times is to surrender it all and allow yourself to be the flowing river that weaves between the cracks in the ground.
Not determined to follow one particular direction, but open to following the path of most ease.
Pay attention to the ways in which you can surrender this month, and rest in the relief that brings you.
Resting and surrendering.
Give yourself permission.
