Act of love I witnessed today:
There’s an older gentleman who I often see when I’m out walking with the girls. He must be at least 80. Always wearing his Trilby hat. He walks with a very, very slow shuffle. His body obviously isn’t what it used to be. We always say hello, except he nods, smiles and raises his hand in a wave as he doesn’t seem to be able to talk anymore either.
Today as I was in the op-shop when a man came in. Probably in his early 60’s. He asked the price on the umbrella out the front. The lady serving him remarked, “You need this today, don’t you!”. The man replied, “It’s not for me. It’s for the man out there in the rain.”
When I went outside there was the man in the Trilby hat, in the rain, as his old feet couldn’t carry him fast enough to get under shelter. The kind younger man offered him the umbrella as he stood there exposed to the elements.
Being the sensitive bug I am I held back a tear or two as he accepted the umbrella and raised his shaking hand to give the man a thumbs up.
I really love seeing beautiful stuff like this. I wanted to share it. Thanks for being wonderful, humans. x
